Abstract
A historical adventure set during the 1685 Monmouth Rebellion, narrated as an old man’s memoir to his grandchildren. Micah Clarke, son of a fervent ex-Cromwellian soldier, joins the Protestant rebel army against the Catholic King James, growing from a naive youth into a disillusioned adult who comes to prize religious toleration over zealotry.
