Abstract

Professor Maracot, assistant Cyrus Headley, and mechanic Bill Scanlan descend in a steel diving-chamber to the bottom of the Atlantic to survey an oceanic trench. Their hawser is severed by a monstrous crustacean and they sink to the sea floor, where they discover the still-inhabited ruins of Atlantis and are rescued by its people, who possess strange sciences and face a resurgent evil sorcerer.
