Abstract
Belloc’s biographical study of Georges Danton, the man of action who drove the French Revolution through its most critical months. Framed by a preface on historical method, it argues the Revolution was a violent return to the normal and reads Danton’s brief, blazing career as the embodiment of the Revolutionary idea, from the fall of the monarchy through the Terror to his execution.
