A satirical collection presenting the fictitious Oxford don Mr. Lambkin through his prose pieces, sermons, lectures and correspondence, mercilessly parodying the pompous, hollow academic style of the university establishment. Framed by a Rabelaisian dedicatory ode to the Republican Club, it mocks progressivism, cant and donnish self-importance.
