Abstract

A Distributist tract analysing how the great capitalist newspaper press, dependent on advertising subsidy, corrupts news and opinion and lets a few unaccountable proprietors usurp real political power. Belloc contrasts this with the small independent ‘Free Press’ (The New Age, the New Witness) whose power lies in telling the truth.
