Abstract
Professor Challenger summons his old comrades from The Lost World to his Sussex home, convinced that Earth is passing through a poisonous belt of ether that will exterminate humanity. Sealed in an oxygen-filled room, the party watches what they believe to be the annihilation of civilization, only to wake into an eerily stilled but ultimately recovering world.
